I'll have to admit, I'm a musky hunter with a serious carp fly fishing problem.

Headed south to visit a friend (a trout fisher with a carp fly fishing problem too) and we fished for about 6 hours catching these on average 2 footers non-stop. WHAT A BLAST! Go to set the hook on a fish and the whole school erupts, and hold on! Awesome head shakes and powerful drag pulling runs.

Hate to break it to you musky anglers, but these carp have 10X the fight of any musky.... Big Smile

Casted a steelhead yarn fly all day. Downsized when the sun came out. Bead headed nymphs were working too. Cast precisely, otherwise they all spook...very line shy fish.

FISHING REPORT

I fished the river early Saturday, Sunday, & Monday morning. Walleyes were biting like crazy this weekend but no legals. I also caught some crappies, perch, gills, dogfish, & bullheads. A handful of crappies & perch were nice sized but otherwise fish were small. I also caught 1 small pike. No catfish again this weekend. Most fish were caught jigging plastic.

I fished the river a few times this weekend. High water equals active fish. I caught many bullheads, gills & pumpkin seeds along with a few crappies bass & dogfish. This morning a friend hooked into a big fish on a little jig with 4 pound test line. It ended up being a 48 to 52'' sized musky which I could only get about a third of it in my net. I was able to land it just to say we did but then we quickly released it. Awesome fish. No catfish this weekend for me which is strange.

Saturday mid morning I left Fox Lake to fish in the river some. I caught 4 nice crappies. I went back fishing Saturday evening & caught 1 big gill & 7 crappies. Nice day of fishing. Went back Sunday morning after I fished Fox Lake again & I slipped along the river bank & put a nice gash in my right hand. That ended my fishing.

Sunday morning was drizzling & cloudy & I caught 9 big gills, 2 crappie, 1 big cat with some smaller cats, a few big bullheads, 2 carp, & I lost a legal walleye @ the net.All fish caught jigging plastic tipped with a wax worm.
